Half way?

It's been a lazy week for the DPP. I worked a 50 hour week and Shev's just been plain lazy :P (edit: ok i guess he did come pull the dash out the 180)
Lucky we don't have a schedule so I guess we're going dandy. Even though we didnt get much work done we spent alot of the week daydreaming about how the car will look aesthetically... somehow along the way we lost focus on the DPP being a pure street registered track car (mostly thanks to shev and his impulsive buying and the rice running through his veins) and it looks like it's going to join the rest of Street Supremacy at AutoSalon early next year.
But for now the focus is still getting it reg'd asap.
So now to the good news. The motor is out of the 200 and ready to go into the 180. The more we pulled apart the wiring the more we dreaded what we had coming ahead. The loom for the engine outta the 200 is completely different to the 180. And coupling it up to the loom of the 180 is going to be a nightmare. But we finally pulled the engine loom outta the 200 (with bloody fingers to show for it).

Now we have to spend a couple days stripping the 200 of anything and everything before getting the wreck towed away to get the parents off my back.

Dash is out

Work on the DPP has slowed down a bit. Amals been working full time, and I've...well yeah its holidays need to relax! So anyway today i decdided to go and work on the 180 while amal was at work. Having taken out the S14 dash with raj, i tackled the 180 by self....and surprisingly got it out within about 30mins all by myself :D, also took out the seats, and the pivot steering wheel.
Amal came at the end to pull the dash out, we both looked at the car and just wished it was running lol amal headed off to his other job and i called it a day.











Also went and picked up some new taillights- niceeeee

Came home from work today to find me dad had returned to pick-a-part to finish the job Shev and I had failed at a few days earlier. Here's is a pic of the mother of all Tow hooks capable of towing the DPP on a tandem. (Not bad for $50, worth $600+ new) But a quick trial fit and we realised installing this thing was going to require more time than the actual DPP. So we left that for anther time. My dad's trusty truck to come to the rescue. So off we went to Asoka uncles house to pick up the Engine crane FINALLY.
Soon as we hopped off the truck we saw Asoka uncle with stars in his eyes as he saw my dads truck with its endless supply of Coolants, Oils, Oil Filters and the like. So after about 30min of The 2 dads scabbing free shit off each other we were ready to dismantle the Crane and load it into the truck. You think it'd be time to go home. But nup.

Asoka Uncle: Would you like a cup of tea?
Dad: Nup
Asoka uncle: Soft Drink?
Dad: Nup
Asoka Uncle: Beer?
Dad: (Moments hesitation) .....Nup
Asoka: its German Beer
Dad: ok! (Asoka uncle brings out a bottle of becks which my dad thought he had bought from Aldi which asoka uncle vehemently denied.(insulted)
So they drank beer, Asoka uncle offered me a beer. I had to say no subtly as my dad let out some nervous laughter.

Time to go home? Nup. We go and check out Asoka uncles Huge backyard which I must say is quite impressive. What does a man do with too much land?He builds a Volleyball court of course! So all the uncles can come round and play. I needed to get home. So after another 30min or so of shooting the breeze they become overcome with hay fever and it was time to leave (Not before Asoka Uncle tries to score some more free shit from the truck)
So Finally get home and assemble the Engine Crane making us look like full pro's now!

Now off to the JT Concert and celebrate the remainder of my Birthday! wooo!!!

Stripping...

We continued stripping the S14, radiator, hoses, abs etc etc have all been pulled out. Saturday arvo arrived, didnt really have much planned besides cleaning up the garage so we had more room to move around.....instead we kept stripping the car down and had less space to work in.
The seats have been removed, we were planning to use the seats into the 180, but the drivers seat appears to be slightly damaged, so we will need to asses how bad later.
The center console has now been removed, which was done in a matter of minutes. Then came the dash....It looked like it was only bolted in a few places and looked like a couple of minutes of work......instead took us about one hour to remove it, mainly because its was bolted in places in where only people with tiny hand tiny tools could reach! so with a bit of "ghetto mechanical" work raja and i finally pulled out the dash to give us access to the wiring loom.

Midnight came and it was Amals birthday...Happy Birthday!

We also received our exedy button clutch,(supplied by Mario at C&B. Our FIRST Sponsor!) should be fun to drive in peak hour traffic :D, Its yellow :D (anyone need a clutch let us know.)

Some actual work...

Well I spent yesterday being pissed on by the 200. First Coolant. Then some brown shit that was also out fo the radiator. and the Air Conditioning gas (Who knew that Air Con Gas was actually yellow liquid!)
Shev came by at 9.45. I heard is car coming from bed so Sms'd him to tell him to go straight to the garage so I could sleep some more. I caught up with him at 10.30 and he had got as far as opening the tool box. So following the dad's advice we started by taking out the radiator. It was simple as 5 bolts. But took us a good 2 hours and brown stuff on my face.

The biggest problem was we didnt have a car with a tow bar to bring down Sherard Uncles Engine Crane (Or Aliya as they call it) So Shev and I packed up the tools and went down to Jolly Roger's (Pick-a-Part) on Greens Rd to try and find a Tow hook For our EF Falcon. We found heaps rated at 1500kg and then came across the mother of all tow hooks. Rated at 2500kg (Enough to tow our drift pig) Thing was it was bolted onto the car in a zillion places and after 2 hours in the heat underneath a car with questionable stands we gave up. Will go Back with the dad to finish the job.

So now we were 2 hours behind schedule with nothing to show for it. Went home. Ate Kottu (thanks mum!) and Shev had to go to work. Went back to the garage and spent the next 6 hours disconnecting every hose and plug from the Engine. At around 5pm Stella came by for a visit.

And then back to work.
SO at 9pm (After 11 hours with just a lunch break making as much progress as someone with know-how would have made in 2 hours) It was time to call it a day.

"Victor" from Jetspeed swung by to buy some old skyline seats I had fo sale on SAU , so I spent about half an hour trying to convince him to give me a free bodykit for the DPP. No luck :(

And then Dineth came over to get ready to go To KJ's Going away at Marakesh (sp?) Din drove us to Shevs house who was the designated driver for the night. Din's driving left a lot to be desired as he tried to show off the power off his skyline to me and mounted a gutter (Maybe forgetting I also had the same car?)
So after a big night (and some regrets) it was time for me and Din to have a good time in my double bed. Unfortunately not before one of us had the chance to run down the street in undies.

I'll now pass the laptop over to Dineth so he can satisfy his Facebook addiction. Dunno if we'll work on the car today. Very hunged over.

The Heart Donor....

So after an awesome SS party on Saturday night at Jehan's place and Autosalon on Sunday, Monday came. Met up with the tow truck driver to bring Dim's 200sx down from Rowville. Shev was spendin the weekend in Queensland so Sandy kindly offered to come help out for the day. Here is sandy for those of you who don't know him:He works at Vodafone Bourke Street and is currently single. He enjoys long walks on the beach and works out, but unfortunately drives a Honda.

The dramas began when mum greeted us n the sidewalk as we unloaded the 2nd car in 4 days. I guess I should have warned her. But I didnt think she'd notice amongst the Fairmont...Commodore...Honda...Skyline...Stagea... oh and lets not forget THE FORKLIFT!.. But yeh she whinged and Mr Rupasinhe the tow truck driver pretended to care and understand her dilemma before he did a runner claiming to have "another job"

Trying to remove the old ignition barrell from the 180 was a pain in the ass(We dont have he keys so all the locks need to be changed) We'd find out later the only way to remove the barrel was to Grind it off. I'm all for power tools but it just seemed wrong.
Although Kasun denies this. We believe it was him that disconnected the steering column from the rack so the wheels could be turned. Re-connecting this was a bitch, not helped by the fact that I had to cop dad's abuse for 2 hours as he "helped".

The 180 was pulled out and the 200sx was given the garage. Tomorrow I will borrow Sherard Uncles Engine crane and start pulling out the Engine.

The Decision...

So along came Day 2 of our build. Shev came by nice and early. Stepped into the garage and admired the car for a while. Then I sat in the passenger seat while shev pretended to drive our Engine-less car and made pretend drifting noises with his mouth.

Then we finally started sorting out the bits of the engine into different boxes. Discoverring the previous owner had somehow managed to blow his Arias forged pistons to shit. After about an hour of staring at the guts of an engine we came to the conclusion...

....We had No Idea whaT the f*ck we were doing!

So rebuilding the engine was out of the question. besides the Block had been bored out 0.5mm So we'd have to fork out over 1 grand for a new set of forgies. So this led to The biggest decision so far.

Some of you may remember one of our Street Supremacy members' rides tipped off the side of a "steep embankment" (Some may call it a cliff) a few months ago. Resulting with cancellation of all SS hills runs until we can all shake the chills still running through our bones from that night.

On a brighter note though. The mangled 200sx has kindly allowed us to use its engine to transplant into our Drift Project. So with a quick call to Mr Rupasenhe at Lanka Towing it was organised to have the car towed to my place following the weekend.

Shev spent the remainder of the day ripping the Front end panels off the 180 (So we don't scratch the paint...really...) while I tried to clean up some of the previous owners ghetto wiring under the dash. We had "nitrous" switch hotwired into the turbo timer earthed off the headunit! We also discovered there was never any nitrous inthe car as we once thought and 3/4 of an Eccy pill. Wooo. I kept working while shev went in search of a rave party.

The Beginning...

Ok so first a lil bit of background. For months now Shev n I have been looking to go halves on a drift project. Decided not to drift my daily car coz I couldnt afford it.... And shevs Beemer ... well ... umm... yeh... so we needed a drift pig.

That's where Mr Kasun came into the picture. Through a series of circumstances he had got hold of a blacktop 180sx 7 months earlier. But kept it because he was going to "rebuild it". Of course anyone that knows Kasun knows this was never going to happen, So when when he finally gave in to the inevitable he knew who to call.


SO less than a week later we were calling up the Friendly Uncle from "Lanka Towing" to tow the 180 from Airport West to Endeavour Hills :) Now when Kasun told us the Engine was in pieces he wasn't kidding. it was litereally in a million bits. But we needed to get it all home to make some decisions.










So now the car was home. Engine-less. What to do? Well for some amatuer mechanics the answer was simple.


We washed it. And after we washed it we vaccumed it. And after we vacuumed it we armour-all'd the dash. :D (p.s Dont worry the water is out of our 9000L tank. We are very water conscious)

What next? We scoured the car for every type of aftermarket modification we could find. Here's the list:
